London
Just when all the buzz around Jean-Michel Basquiat’s painting Untitled 1982 shattered world-records in May (it was sold for $110.5 million sailing past its high-estimate of $60 million), we have another reason to be excited about.

The Barbican Art centre prepares something special with Basquiat’s first large-scale exhibition in the UK, featuring rare film, photography and archive material. Putting on a Basquiat show like this – and it will have more than 100 works – is a particular challenge because most of his work is owned privately. The show promises to capture the spirit of this self-taught artist, poet, DJ and musician whose influence, since his death at 27 in 1988, has been enormous. This will be #BoomForReal.
This 1982 artwork by Jean-Michel Basquiat was sold for a record $110.5 million at auction in New York in May 2017. It hadn't been shown in public since a private collector bought it for $19,000 in 1984.
Copenhagen
Copenhagen is a charming place to visit and art scene there is thriving. One of the unmissable shows to see this autumn is ‘The Cleaner’ – a major retrospective of Marina Abramović (one of the pioneers of body and performance art and since the 1970s) at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The show comprises more than 100 works and spans more than five decades – in addition to the reperformances of an early work. Especially of interest is daily reperfomance of Ulay and Marina Abramović’s work from 1977 ‘Imponderabilla’ by the performers who have been trained in Marina’s so-called Method in a five-day workshop.

Berlin
Berlin Art Week is a highlight on the contemporary art calendar in the German capital. For six days (13 - 17 September) in September, art lovers from all over the world gather to see countless artists from various genres. The focus of attention is usually the art fairs - Positions Berlin and art berlin (abc art berlin contemporary in collaboration with Art Cologne), surrounded by numerous institutional exhibitions, gallery shows and special events.

Chicago
Chicago is full of world-class art museums, and their exhibitions are constantly changing. The city’ art scene becomes even more vibrant during the annual EXPO Chicago at Navy Pier (13-17 September 2017), where more than 100 contemporary art galleries show off everything from towering sculptures to experimental photography. Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCCA) organizes the exhibition of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg.

This major retrospective of his paintings, featuring fifty works that span three decades of his career, from the artist’s earliest mature works—to his recent, monumentally scaled paintings. Besides The Depaul Art Museum hosts the stretched nylon sculptures of Senga Nengudi in its new exhibition, "Improvisational Gestures.”
Istanbul
September is going to be a very busy time for all Istanbul visitors with the opening of the 15th Istanbul Biennial (from 16th September - 12 November 2017) and 12th edition of Contemporary Istanbul (CI) that returns this year with a revised fair design, a lineup of more than 70 galleries and a new sculpture exhibition at the neighbouring Sanatçılar Park.

Furthermore, it is complemented by Ai Weiwei’s first exhibition in Turkey at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum and a solo exhibition by American artist Diana Thater and new media art exhibition ‘Tree, Shadow, Sea, Moon’ at Borusan Contemporary.
