SUPERFLEX

In 2014, Hyundai Motor announced the unique long-term partnership (this 11 year collaboration promises to present various exhibitions and programs until 2025) with the one of world’s most influential contemporary art museums, Tate. This week Danish collective Superflex (founded in 1993 by Bjørnstjerne Christiansen, Jakob Fenger and Rasmus Nielsen) will present the third annual Hyundai Commission. We’ve already witnessed mesmerizing installations by Philippe Parreno and Abraham Cruzvillegas, but details of this one still remain unclear. Best known for sticking a Euro coin on the Southbank's Hayward Gallery, Superflex deals with the social, political and cultural concerns of our age. Let’s hope that this new project will include some humour and flair for its visitors as well.
This commission will be on view at Turbin Hall until 02 April 2018 at Tate Modern, Bankside, London, SE1 9TG

Everything At Once

To mark its 50th anniversary, Lisson Gallery presents an extensive off-site exhibition featuring 24 artistsshowing 45 works. Housed in the striking brutalist environment at Store Studios – home to last year’s show-stopping music and film exhibition The Infinite Mix – Everything At Once probes the multi-sensory simultaneity of contemporary life, first articulated by John Cage in 1966. It will feature Dan Graham’s largest-ever pavilion, Showing off the Body (2016), Ai Weiwei’s 50-metre long wallpaper installation, Odyssey (2016), Anish Kapoor’s vast, suspended sculpture At the Edge of the World II (1998) and Richard Deacon’s Möbius-like plywood form, Turning a Blind Eye (1984). Alongside, The Store X The Vinyl Factory will also present three site-specific commissions, including a new a/v artwork by Ryoji Ikeda, Arthur Jafa’s Kanye West-soundtracked video work Love is the Message, the Message is Death and Jeremy Shaw’s sci-fi pseudo-documentary Liminals.
Everything At Once opens on 5th October and runs until 10th December at Store Studios, 180 The Strand, London WC2R 1EA.

Unfold: Art in the city of Tomorrow

Unfold is a collaboration between four young Londoners: female art-entrepreneurs Marine Tanguy (MTArt), Katrina Aleksa (AWITA, Predella House), Kitty Dinshaw and Liezel Strauss (SubjectMatter).
This project consists of three main spaces with exhibition of over fifty works from 17 carefully selected artists, highlighting creativity, craftsmanship and pure inspiration. The Gallery Space - is dedicated to some of the most exciting emerging artists working today. The Project Space - will be bursting with relevant conversations, panels and debates and the studio space - where artists will be creating their work. Come and experience art in an entirely different way!
The show runs from 3rd to 8th October 2017 at Church Street, London NW8

Frieze Talks 2017

The Public Talks Programme at the both fairs looks highly entertaining and impressive this year. The programme at Frieze London, curated for the first time by Ralph Rugoff (Hayward Gallery, London), includes a panel on “Alt-feminisms”; a “performance-conversation” between artists Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster and Philippe Parreno; and a session of “sung lectures”. Curated by Tim Marlow (Artistic Director, Royal Academy of Arts, London), Frieze Masters Talks provides a platform for leading artists, museum curatorsand critics to discuss the history of art. This year’s programme features a series of conversations between artists and curators, as well as panel discussions exploring the aesthetics of display – juxtaposing contemporary and historical art. Taking place each day of the fair, there will be such participants as: Isaac Julien in conversation with Nicholas Cullinan, Marina Abramović, Michael Craig-Martin to name a few.
These conversations are free to attend and included in the price of the ticket. So just be sure to reserve a seat on the day of each talk take place!

The Essence of Things

Entitled THE ESSENCE OF THINGS, this is a pop up show curated by Berlin-based curator and gallerist Daniel Marzona, and features work by ten artists whose practices have been associated with minimalism and post-minimalism statements in the 1960s and 1970s. It brings together a selection of works by Carl Andre, Richard Tuttle, Stephen Antonakos and François Morellet amongst others. This is the second of three presentations by Art Circle to be mounted in London this year; others will follow in cities around the world.
